SILVIAN DUNGGIO. 2013. STUDENTS INTERPRETATION ON CHARACTERS OF INK HEART (A FILM BY CORNELIA FUNKE)
This research is conducted based on the problem statement “students interpretation on characters of Ink heart (A Film by Cornelia FUNKE). The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative analysis method. The population of this research was the students of English department in sixth grade and the sample was class C. in collecting the data, the researcher used the test and interview. Furthermore, in analyzing the data the researcher used several steps such as identifying the students’ interpretation on characters of Ink heart, categories and interpretation the students’ result based on their analysis. It can be conclude that, most of the students found difficulties in describing the characterization of the characters in Ink heart (A Film by Cornelia FUNKE). The data shows that fifty five percent students cannot describe the characterization correctly. It can be seen from their explanation of each character that they still use a simple description. In another words, that their ability in analyzing characterization are different. Based on the interview it can be said that some students still do not know what the characterization in movie is, they forget the theory of characterization; they were limited of time to analyze the characters and situation that not support the students to express their ideas.
