Abstrak
ABSTRACT Dariani. 2014. Using Journal in The Process of Teaching Writing (A Research Conducted at the Third Semester of English Department, Gorontalo State University) This research is investigating the using of journal in the process of teaching writing. The purpose of this research is to find out the way of lecturer in using journal in teaching writing; students' writing process by using journal; and lecturer's and students' perception of using journal in teaching writing. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The participants of this research consist of six students and one lecturer in class III C of English Department. The findings of this research are: first, the way of lecturer using journal in teaching writing are by reflecting the topic material of writing course, giving the feedback, and allowing students to express their feeling in their journal. Second, the students' writing process by using journal for three meetings has been increased. Third, the lecturer and students' perception show that journal have beneficial to improve students' writing. Therefore, it can be concluded that using journal in teaching writing can be applied to increase students' writing. Keywords: journal, teaching writing
