The researcher intended to describe the moral value based on the behavior of main character in the stories. It aims to analyze the moral value in four short stories of James Baldwin by distinguishing the behavior of main character in the story. The researcher used qualitative research method with sociological approach to describe the finding data of this research. The theory about moral value which has been applied in this research is adopted from Susana's theory about the types of moral value. The primary data were derived from the short stories itself. The data were collected from libraries and therefore this research also applied library research. The result of this research consists of individual moral value and social moral value, and both of them were classified in two types, those are positive and negative moral value. Individual moral value included positive moral there are; bravery, humbleness, steadfastness, loyalty and responsible, negative moral value there are arrogant and greedy. Social moral value included positive moral value are kindhearted, sympathetic to other and negative moral value is tyrannical.
