Abstrak

The use of picture to improve studentsâ ability in writing descriptive text Asri Bakari Advisor 1: Sri Agriyanti Mestari, S.Pd, M.Ed, TESOL Advisor 2: Sri Widiyarti Ali S.Pd., M.Hum English department, faculty of letter and culture, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo 2019 (asribakari@gmail.com) ABSTRACT The aim of this research is to find out whether the students' writing in descriptive text can be improve after using picture media. The population of this research is the student in eighth grade of SMPN 6 Gorontalo, and the sample is 33 studentsâ in VIII c class. This research uses pre-experimental design with one group of pre - test, and post-test. The results of this study showed the mean score of pre - test is 43% and the mean score of post -test is 86.36 %. Moreover, the hypothesis of this study found the result of if tcount ttable It means that H0 accepted -15.2 2,05. Therefore, it concluded used picture media improved the studentâs ability in writing descriptive text of VIII c class in SMPN 6 Gorontalo.
