Abstrak
ABSTRACT Rizkia Afdalia Mokoginta. 2018. Applying Total Physical Response Method in Mastering Vocabulary for Students of Junior High school level. A research on students in seven grade of SMP N 1 Kotamobagu in academic year 2017/2018. English Department, Letter and Culture Faculty, State University of Gorontalo. Advisor (1) Dra. Elsje Louise Sambouw, M.Hum. Advisor (2) Sri Rumiyatiningsih Luwiti, S.Pd, M.Pd This research aimed to investigate the applying of total physical response in mastering vocabulary. It was conducted in SMPN 1 Kotamobagu. To achieve the objective of research, it used pre experimental research. The total number of sample was 26 students. The data was obtained from students' score in pre-test and post-test. The instrument employed in this research was multiple choices test and the data were analyzed through t-test. The results indicated there were significant improvements after applying total physical response. The students who were taught by using total physical response had a highest score. It was because the students' average score in pre-test was only 11.15 while the average score in post-test was 18.61. By using t-test calculation, it was obtained t count (12.91) was more than t list (1.714). It means that the hypothesis was accepted, it proved there was a significant differences between students mastery vocabulary before applying total physical response and after applying total physical response. Regarding to the data above, it can be concluded that total physical response is effective to be applied in process of mastering vocabulary. Keywords: Vocabulary, Total physical response.
