Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Kooperatif tipe Cooperative Integrated Reading And Composition (CIRC) lebih tinggi dari siswa yang dibelajarkan menggunakan model pembelajaran langsung pada materi segiempat. Penelitian eksperimen ini dilakukan di SMP Negeri 1 Suwawa kelas VII pada semester genap 2016/2017 dengan rancangan Pretest Posttes Only Control Group Design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Suwawa. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara Simple Random Sampling. Dari sampel yang terpilih, kelas VII D menjadi kelas eksperimen, dan kelas VII E sebagai kelas kontrol. Pengukuran kemampuan komunikasi matematis dilakukan dengan menggunakan instrumen tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis berbentuk essay. Instrumen ini telah memenuhi syarat validitas butir dan reliabilitas instrumen. Berdasarkan hasil analisis deskriptif diperoleh bahwa skor rata-rata kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan model Cooperative Integrated Reading And Composition (CIRC) lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan model pembelajaran langsung. Berdasarkan analisis inferensial ANKOVA 1 Jalan diperoleh model regresi untuk kelas Eksperimen Y ... = 35,12 + 1,00X dan kelas kontrol Y ...= 25,31 + 1,26X maka koefisien regresi untuk kedua kelas bernilai positif dan berdasarkan hasil uji homogenitas gradien regresi diperoleh kedua kelas homogen (memiliki gradien yang sama). Pengujian hipotesis diperoleh Fhitung> Ftabel atau 5,209 > 4,16 maka H0 ditolak yang berarti kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan model Cooperative Integrated Reading And Composition (CIRC) lebih tinggi dari kemampuan komunikasi matematis sisw yang dibelajarkan dengan model pembelajaran langsung setelah mengontrol pretest.

The research aims at understanding whether or not student's mathematical communication ability treated by CIRC learning model is higher than direct instruction model on square topic. the experimental research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Suwawa partivulary class VII in even Semester of 2016/2017 academic year. it applied pretest-posttest only control group design. Population was addressed to all student at VII class while sampling was completed by simple random sampling. Calss VII D was selected as the experimental class VII E was considered as control class. Assesment on mathematical communication ability was performed by using test essay form. The instrument has met the requisrement of item validity and reliability. Findings through descriptive analysis revealed that average score of student's mathematical communication ability by CIRC learning model application was higher that direct instruction model. Inferensial analysis of one way ANKOVA 1 abtained regresssion model from experimental class for Y ... = 35,12 + 1,00X and control class Y ...= 25,31 + 1,26X, thus regression coefficient for both classes had positive value while homogeneity test of regression gradent abtained both classes were homogenous (equal gradient). Hypothesis verification obtained Fcount> Ftable or 5,209 > 4,16 , thus H0 was rejected which indicated student's mathematical communication ability through CIRC learing model application was highher than direct instruction learning model after pretest was controlled.
