Abstrak
The research is driven by emergence of negative self-concept of students in class VIII of SMP Negeri 3 Kota Gorontalo. The current research aims to find out the description of self-concept in class VIII of SMP Negeri 3 Kota Gorontalo.
The research applies a quantitative descriptive method where is studies self-concept of students in class VIII of SMP Negeri 3 Kota Gorontalo. The research samples are 50 students who are divided into two classses, and every class comprises 25 students. The technique of data collection employs a questionnaire and observation, whereas the technique of data analysis uses percentage analysis.
The results of data analysis using percentage analysis indicates that the indicator of health achieves a percentage of 96% (high category), appearance achieves a percentage of 75.3% (medium category), Body shape achieves a percentage of 69,3% (medium category), mind achieves a percentage of 82% (high category), Feeling achieves a percentage of 78% (high category), self-confidence achieves a percentage of 68% (medium category), attitude achieves a percentage of 66% (medium category), relationship with environment achieves a percentage of 63.3% (medium category), honesty achieves a percentage of 75,8% (high category), responsibility achieves a percentage of 81,5% (high category), value and principle achieves a percentage of 74.5% (medium category). In brief, the studentsƒƒ‚‚ƒ self-concept in class VIII of SMP Negeri 3 Kota Gorontalo is 75,42% on average where it is categorized as positive.
