Abstrak
FAHRULYAN Olii, 2013. "Improving Student,s is Understanding to Know Social Problems Using Problem Based Learning Method In Class IV SDN 3 Pontolo District. Kwandang ". Department of Primary School Teacher Education, State University Gorontalo The problems in this study whether the method of Problem Based Learning can improve students' understanding of the material in particular social issues in class IV Elementary School District 3 Pontolo Kwandang North Gorontalo district, the number of student’s this research are 30 people of 19 male students and 11 female students. This study qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed. Results of this study indicate that it has achieved an increase in students' understanding of social issues matter amounted to 87% with indicator variables can explain the meaning of social problems, social problems can distinguish the individual problems (private), may explain the social problems that occur in its region, and can make list of social problems that exist in your neighborhood. Problem Based Learning method results in the first cycle of understanding completeness of 63.33% and the second cycle increased to 86.67%. Thus the performance indicators has been established that if 83.33% or 25 of the 30 students who already understand the social problems in learning social studies. Besides action hypothesis has been formulated that if used methods Problem Based Learning (PBL) in recognizing the students' understanding of social problems in the fourth grade social studies lesson at SDN 3 Pontolo district. Kwandang can be improved, acceptable. Key Words: Understanding, Problem Based Learning Method
