Permasalahan dalam penelitian adalah apakah terdapat pengaruh metode problem solving terhadap kemampuan menyelesaikan soal cerita pengurangan bilangan asli pada siswa kelas I SD Negeri 2 Telaga Biru. Adapun tujuan penelitian yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode problem solving terhadap kemampuan menyelesaikan soal cerita pengurangan bilangan asli. Desain penelitian menggunakan Pre Experimental "One Group Pretest-Posttest". Variabel penelitian yaitu terdapat dua variabel yaitu variabel x adalah metode problem solving dan variabel y adalah kemampuan menyelesaikan soal cerita pengurangan bilangan asli. Tehnik yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data adalah observasi, tes dan dokumentasi. Tehnik analisis data menggunakan uji validitas, uji reliabilitas, uji normalitas dan pengujian hipotesis menggunakan uji t.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata sebelum menggunakan metode problem solving adalah 38.5 dan sesudah menggunakan metode problem solving adalah 65.1. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data menggunakan uji t diperoleh thitung = 11.42 dan ttabel = 2.093, karena thitung>ttabel maka hipotesis H_0 ditolak dan H_a diterima. Dengan demikian, disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh metode problem solvingterhadap kemampuan menyelesaikan soal cerita pengurangan bilangan asli pada siswa kelas 1 SD Negeri 2 Telaga Biru.

The problem statement is if there is an effect of problem solving method on students' abilities to solve the math word problems of the original number reduction at grade 1 elementary SD Negeri 2 Telaga Biru. The purpose of the study is to determine the effect of problem solving method on students' abilities to solve the math word problems of the original number reduction. This research applied Pre-Experimental "One Group Pretest-Posttest". Furthermore, data were collected by employing observation, test and documentation and then were analyzed by using validity test, reliability test, normality test meanwhile the hypothesis test were used t test.
The results showed that the average score prior to using the problem solving method is 38.5 and the mean value after using the problem solving method is 65.1. Therefore, data analysis using t test obtains tcount = 11.42 and ttable = 2.093, since tcount> ttable then hypothesis H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, it concludes that there is an influence of problem solving method on students' abilities to solve the math word problems of the original number reduction at grade 1 elementary SD Negeri 2 Telaga Biru .
