Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini yaitu "Apakah terdapat pengaruh penggunaan media video terhadap kemampuan menulis karangan deskripsi pada siswa kelas V SDN 63 Kota Timur Kota Gorontalo?" dengan tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan media video terhadap kemampuan menulis karangan deskripsi pada siswa kelas V SDN 63 Kota Timur Kota Gorontalo. Maka penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode Pre Experimental Design dengan tipe One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu test (pretest dan posstest) dan melakukan treatment sebanyak lima kali, sedangkan observasi dan dokumentasi adalah penunjang. Hasil penelitian dan pembahasan menunjukan bahwa penggunaan media video berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan menulis karangan deskriptif. Hasil pengujian hipotesis diperoleh thitung sebesar 8,96 sedangkan ttabel sebesar 2,093. Hal ini berarti thitung lebih besar dari ttabel. Dengan demikian Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima yang artinya terdapat perbedaan rata-rata kemampuan menulis karangan deskripsi siswa sebelum menggunakan media video dan sesudah menggunakan media di kelas V SDN 63 Kota Timur Kota Gorontalo.

The objective of this research is to find out whether or not the use of video influences descriptive writing skills of fifth grade students of Elementary School SDN 63 Kota Tengah, Gorontalo City. This is formulated from the problem statement of the research. This pre-experimental research employed One-Group Pretest-Posttest design. Technique of collecting the data that is used in this study are (pretest and posttest) and the treatment was conducted five times, and the observation and the documentation functionate as the supporting media. The sample of this research is 20 students of fifth grades. The result shows that the implementation of video contributes towards the students' ability in writing descriptive essay. Furthermore, it is revealed that the score of tcount and ttable is 8.96 and 2.093 respectively. In other words, the value of tcount out numbers ttable, meaning that the H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. This further affirms that there is a difference of average results of the descriptive writing skills of the students in the research area.
