Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah apakah melalui Model Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas V SDN 2 Tilango Kabupaten Gorontalo dapat meningkat? Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman melalui model Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) pada siswa kelas V SDN 2 Tilango Kabupaten Gorontalo. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK).
Hasil capaian pada observasi awal menunjukan bahwa, dari 22 siswa hanya 6 (27%) siswa termasuk pada kategori mampu membaca pemahaman. Pada siklus I sebanyak 7 (32%) siswa yang mampu membaca pemahaman, 10 siswa (45%) termasuk pada kategori tidak mampu membaca pemahaman. Jumlah dan presentase tersebut meningkat pada siklus II menjadi 18 (82%) siswa yang mampu membaca pemahaman sedangkan sisanya 4 siswa (18%) yang kurang mampu berdasarkan indikator membaca pemahaman yang telah ditetapkan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pembahasan diatas dapat disimpulkan bahwa melalui model Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman pada siswa kelas V SDN 2 tilango kabupaten Gorontalo.

The problem in this research was, Does Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) Model improve studentsƒƒ‚‚ƒ reading comprehension skill at grade V of SDN 2 Tilango of Gorontalo District ?. The objective of the research was to improve Reading and comprehension skill throught the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) Model at grade V students of SDN 2 Tilango of Gorontalo District. The method applied in this research was Classroom action Research (CAR).
The results of achievement in initial observation showed that out of 22 student. There were 6 students (27%) that included in the category of being able in reading comprehension. In cycle I, 7 student (32%) were able to reading comprehension. While 10 students (45%) were included in the category of being unable in reading comprehension. The previous number and percentage improved in cycle II in which there were 18 students (82%) who were able in reading comprehension. Whereas 4 students (18%) were less able based on the predetermined indicator of reading comprehension. Based on the research findings, it was concluded that the application of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) Model could improve reading comprehension skill at students of grade V at SDN 2 Tilango of Gorontalo District.
