ABSTRACT Suniaty Sucipto. 211 408 037. 2012. “Improving Students’ Learning Outcomes through the Portfolio-Based Learning Model on Integrated Social Science Subject for Students in VIII class of SMPN 6 Sidoarjo of Gorontalo District”. Thesis. Majoring in Offices Education, Department of Economics Education, Study Program of Economics Education, Faculty of Economics and Business, State University of Gorontalo. Supervisor: Hais Dama, SE, M.Si; Co-Supervisor: Irwan Yantu, S.Pd, M.Si. The classroom action research aims of to improve the students’ learning outcomes through the portfolio-based learning model on integrated social science subject for students in VIII class of SMPN 6 Sidoarjo of Gorontalo District. Based on the results of the study, collection of data taken using the observation sheet activities of teacher and students, as well as evaluation of the material taught at every cycle. Then the data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. Based on data analysis, first cycle shows the average grade achieved were 68.20%. Second cycle, the average grade increased into 71.70%. Thus the hypothesis states, “If the teachers in carrying out the study using portfolio-based learning model, it can improve students’ learning outcomes in integrated social science subject in VIII class of SMPN 6 Sidoarjo of Gorontalo District”, proven and acceptable.
