In this skripsi, writer discussed about police effort in preventing criminal offence of illegal gambling in community. It was caused by the popularity of illegal gambling in community and currently admitted the existence is in community. Illegal gambling (Togel) can become a negative impact to people because of criminal offense on illegal gambling has been considered to provide total loss of community against community norms as well as law applicable norms.
The research method applied sociological juridical approach which meant the research was based on evidentiary framework to ensure a truth considering legislative provisions and current phenomenon. Data were analyzed descriptive quantitative as problem solving procedures were investigated through explaining data then analyzed in conclusion.
Research findings showed that law enforcement became particular concern of Gorontalo Police Chief in order to allow him giving indtruction to every chief of local police to prevent illegal gambling of togel by applying repressive and preventive action. There were several factors to be obstacles particulary for Local Police of Limboto Barat in term of preventing criminal offense of illegal gambling as follows : temporary transaction site, difficuluty on uncovering evidence, difficulty of revealing illegal gambling subject, lack of community cooperation and awareness of people surrounding. Therefore, local police of Limboto Barat is transaction and police officer cooperates with the community by introducing thesuspected such as retailer, collectors, and centered suspect. The effort can be displayed in public sites as exposing danger of illegal gambling, be cooperative with the local community and religious leaders to stop illegal gambling through conducting qur’an recitation and law counseling to community.
It is required to have the cooperative between Police and community to provide information one to another about illegal gambling transaction site. Police has to make an approach to community in order to provide quick information for quick response of the Police. Besides, the execution of criminal offense to the suspect of illegal gambling will be adjusted with his crimal action in order to get his repentance.
