Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini difokuskan pada: (1) Siapa saja tokoh dalam novel Girls in the Dark Karya Akiyoshi Rikako? (2) Bagaimanakah Penokohan dalam Novel Girls in the Dark karya Rikako Akoyoshi? Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan tokoh dan penokohan dalam novel Girls in the Dark karya Akiyoshi Rikako.
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan jenis penelitian kualitatif. Data pada penelitian ini berupa kutipan dalam novel. Sumber data penelitian yaitu novel Girls In The Dark karya Akiyoshi Rikako merupakan cetakan kedua belas diterbitkan tahun 2019 oleh penerbit Haru. Perolehan data penelitian ini dengan membaca isi novel, mencatat dan mengidentifikasi. Teknik analisis data berupa (1) membaca isi novel secara keseluruhan, (2) mencari data berkaitan dengan tokoh dan penokohan, (3) memberikan tanda atau kode pada data novel, (4) mengidentifikasi data berdasarkan perwatakan dan penokohan, (5) menyimpulkan hasil analisis dan indentifikasi data. Hasil penelitian ditemukan ada sebelas tokoh dalam novel Girls in the Dark dengan tujuh belas karakter.
Berdasarkan hasil penelilitian, novel Girls in the Dark karya Akiyoshi Rikako merupakan novel yang memiliki tokoh dan penokohan. Tokoh utama Itsumi tokoh tambahan Sayuri, Shiyo, Sonoko, Akane, Mirei, Diana, Hojo Sensei, Ema, Orangtua Itsumi, dan Ibu Mirei. Terdapat lima metode yang digunakan pengarang untuk menampilkan karakter tokoh. Metode-metode tersebut yaitu metode diskursif, metode pelukisan perasaan tokoh, metode cakapan, metode pandangan tokoh, dan metode penampilan fisik. Metode pelukisan perasaan tokoh dominan digunakan pengarang.

The research problem in this study were focused on; (1) Who are the characters in the Girls in the Dark novel by Akiyoshi Rikako? (2) What are the characterizations in the Girls in the Dark novel by Akiyoshi Rikako? The purpose of this study was to describe the characters and characterization un the Girls in the Dark novel by Akiyoshi Rikako.
This research used a descriptive with a qualitive type. The data in this study were in the form of quotations from the novel. The research data source was from the Girls in the Dark novel by Akiyoshi Rikako, the twelfth print published in 2019 by Haru publisher. Research data was acquired by reading the novel's contents, taking notes, and identifyng. The data analusis techniques consisted of (1) reading the contents of the novel in its entirety, (2) looking for data related to the characters and characterizations, (3) marking or coding the data, (4) identifying data based on the characters and characterizations, (5) concluding and identifying the resultd of data analysis. The research results showed that were eleven characterizations and seventeen characters in the Girls in the Dark.
The research results found thas Girls in the Dark novel by Akiyoshi Rikako was a novel with characters and characterizations. The main character was Itsumi, and the additional characters were Sayuri, Shiyo, Sonoko, Akane, Mirei, Diana, Hojo Sensei, Ema, Itsumi's Parents, and Mirei's Mother. There were five methods used by the author to display the characters, such as the discursive method, the method of potraying the feelings of the characters, the conversational method, the character's view method, and the physical appereance method. The method of describing the feelings of the characters was used dominantly by the author.
