This study is conducted to ascertain as well describe the implementation of Communicative Approach in teaching speaking at students of grade ten, eleven, and twelve of SMA Neg. 1 Telaga. The design of the research is qualitative-descriptive. The data is obtained by conducting observation on classroom activity and recording it by using video-camera. There are three English teachers as the object of the research. Each teacher is observed twice in the same class.
The result of the research shows that all English teachers at this school have implemented the Communicative Approach in their teaching. By using this approach, the teachers seem successful in carrying out their teaching activities. Eventhough there are still some weaknesses, but generally the teachers had provided a great opportunity to give more practices to students to show up their speaking competence. Some ideas that can be offered in order to make an improvement for the implementation of Communicative Approach in teaching speaking to students are: (1) the use of instructional media is very important to allow the students to have more attention to the material being learnt, (2) creating more various activities enable the students have more experience with the use of the language they are learning.
