Abstrak
ABSTRACT Chandrawaty Kurune (2013) The Application of Series Picture to increase Students’ Ability in Writing Narrative Textn(a research conducted at SMPN 8 Gorontalo Utara) The objective of this research to describe the application of series picture in relation with students ability in writing narrative text. The subject of this research is second grade students at SMPN 8 Kecamatan Anggrek Kabupaten Gorontalo Utara. It is consist of 22 students in non parallel class. The method of this research is quasy-experimental research with three steps in research design namely pre-test, treatments and post-test. The instrument which used to collect the data is essay test and it analyzed by using t-test formula to prove this research hypothesis. The result of this research showed that the application of series picture can increase students’ ability in writing narrative text. The criteria used to verify the hypothesis is acceptable if t-count is smaller than t-table (t-count ? t-table). Based on the analysis found that value of t-count was -0, 49 and t-table value is 2, 02 counted by formula dk = (N1 + N2) – 2 with level of significance ? = 0,05. It means that the hypothesis is acceptable with criteria -0, 49 ? 2, 02. This can be concluded that the application of series picture can help students in writing especially narrative text. Finally I suggested to the teacher especially English teacher for being creative and innovative in setting classroom activities to become more interesting by using media for instance series picture Key words: writing narrative and series picture
