Abstrak
ABSTRACT
SRI OKTAVIA DAI. Nim : 321 406 123. Improving Students’ Ability in Pronouncing /?/ and /ð/ Sounds by Using Popular Songs.
The objective of this research is to improve the students’ ability in pronouncing the /?/ dan /ð/ sounds by using popular songs.
The method of this research is quasi-experimental by using pre-test, treatment, and post-test step, their pronunciation will be examined by using popular songs that they will be pronounced one by one. In collecting, I use scoring include true words to evaluate the students pronounce ability. And in analyzing, I use statistical analysis.
This research show that popular song can improve students’ ability in pronouncing /?/ and /ð/ sounds. Based on analysis of this reseach, I found that the hypothesis of this research was accepteble in real stage ? = 0,05, where tcount –3,2 < tlist 1,697 with n = 32. So, I concluded that the hypothesis is received.
As the result, popular songs can improve the students’ ability in pronouncing /?/ and /ð/ sounds. Because song make the students become relax, and it is proved and because of the exercise on a regular basis.
