The Violation of Maxims Cooperative Principle in the Movie “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of The Dawn Treader (Narnia 3)”
(The Movie Directed By Michael Apted)
The aim of this study is to find out the maxim cooperative principle and to describe the cooperative principle operated in the conversation which is appearing in the movie. This study took British Movie directed by Michael Apted, “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (Narnia 3)”. The datum was collected from coded conversation in the movie using card of the data that will show the corpuses, and then there are 12 corpuses were found in this study. The datum have been analyzed by using qualitative method and classified based on the maxim cooperative principle. The result showed there are 2 corpuses includes to the violation of maxim of quantity, 1 corpus includes to the violation of maxim of quality, 7 corpuses includes to the violation of maxim relation and 2 corpuses includes to the violation of maxim manner. Furthermore, based on the sub-principles of maxim cooperative principle, it seems that the violation of the maxim relation is the most appeared corpus in the conversation on the movie.
