Abstrak

ABSTRACT Maryam A. Koniyo (2013): “THE BROTHERHOOD IN BETTY THOMAS’ ANIMATED MOVIE: ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS” This study aims to find out the brotherhood in Alvin and the chipmunks, an animated movie by Betty Thomas Nienhauser. The problem statement of this research, focus on how is the brotherhood portrayed in Betty Thomas animated movie Alvin and the chipmunks. This research applies qualitative method and sociological approach. The data of this research is collected by watching and identifying statements. This research analyzed descriptively The steps are the selection of data, verification of data, reduction of data and analyzing the data. Research finding shows that the brotherhood emerged among the characters including protagonist and antagonist. In this animated movie there are five indicators, they are love, friendship, helpful, physical kinship, and related by nature. The indicator which is mostly emerged in the movie is love. It is because most data in this movie show the strong of love among the characters especially between Alvin and Simon when they were fighting. Keywords: Brotherhood, Betty Thomas’ Animated Movie.
