Abstrak

ABSTRACT Ali Ismawan Daud. 2013. NIM: 321408006. Skripsi: The Flouting of Cooperative Principle on Andrew Niccol’s Movie “IN TIME” The objective of this study is to find out the flouting of cooperative principle which is applied by using the theory of Grice Cooperative Principle. The method of this research is descriptive method. The corpus of the data was taken from the utterances which are spoken by the actors/actress in “IN TIME” and the source of data is the film/movie “IN TIME”. The result of the this research shows that there are flouting of conversation in four maxims namely quantity maxim (12 utterances), quality maxim (1 utterance), relation maxim (5 utterances) and the last is manner maxim (2 utterances). Therefore it can be concluded the flouting of quantity dominates the flouting on the utterance of the movie. It means that there are many utterances of the movie give contribution more informative as is required . Key Words: Flouting, Cooperative Principle, “IN TIME” Movie.
