Abstrak

ABSTRACT Asna D. Hunta. 2013. Illocutionary Aspects in Oliver Twist Film. This research focused on the illocutionary aspects which are found in Oliver Twist film. This film is taken as the object to collect the data. Methodology of research was qualitative method while I used utterances of Oliver Twist film in order to know five aspects of illocutionary act in the film. Technique of collecting the data was obtains to all utterances in Oliver Twist film and analyzed descriptively in accordance with Searle’s theory. The research findings show that there are five aspects of illocutionary act applied by the author. Those are (1)assertives which includes the act of reporting, complaining, sand uggesting, (2) directives, which includes commanding, requesting, demanding, advising and ordering, (3) commissives, which includes promising and threatening, (4) expressive, which includes thanking and apologizing, (5) declarations, which includes naming. The utterances of commanding are the most utterances which are used in the film. Keyword: Aspects of illocutionary act, Oliver Twist
