The objective of this research is to describe students’ interest in learning English, and to know what are factors that effect the students’ interest in learning English The study is conducted at the fifth grade students of SDN 2 Huntu Batudaa, that consist of 20 students. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative method. The result of this research shows the students’ interest in learning English. Interest plays an important thing, because interest are the sources of motivation which drive people to do, what they want to do when they are free to choose. The students’ interest in learning English can be influenced by some factors; they are internal factors and external factor. In internal factor such as the students ability and media. In this case, ability related to students knowledge and not all students have the same ability. There are students who have good speaking ability in front of the class, while others not. The teacher, and material as the part of external factor. If the teacher can use method in good way and also can make the students understand about the material, it is obviously can make the student enjoy the lesson.
