Abstrak
ABSTRACT Fibriani Jayati Mursidi (2015) 321 408 024 "Total Physical Response Method for Teaching Procedure Text in Listening Skill". English Department, Letters and Culture Faculty, State University of Gorontalo. First advisor is Dr. Hj. Rasuna Talib, M.Hum and second advisor is Indri Wirahmi Bay, S.Pd, M.A. This study is about total physical response method for teaching procedure text in listening skill. This study was done to find out whether the ability of students in procedure text of listening skill increases by applies total physical response method. Total physical response is the method applies in language teaching learning that arranged by command coordination, speech, action, and teach the language by physical activity. Through this method the students listen, pay attention, and response physically on teachers command of procedure text. The sample of this research is IX grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Wonosari in the Academic Year 2014/2015. Total students are 46, it divided into 2 classes, 21 students in class IXA and 25 students in class IXB. This research used an experimental method and used true experimental design which it concern of post-test only control group design. There are two categories chooses randomly, the first class called an experiment class and the second class called control class. An experiment class was class IXA and the control class was class IXB. Technique of collecting the data obtained from instrument test which is analyzed by using validity and reliability testing. The data of this research is normally distributed. The results of this research find out that total physical response method increased significantly the students' ability in procedure text of listening skill. It is proofed by the result post-test in an experiment class was higher than the result post-test in control class. Based on the hypothesis analysis, it is found that the tcount > tlist or 6,9538 > 2,016. Key Words: Total Physical Response Method, Procedure Text, Listening Skill
