Abstrak
ABSTRACT
Lia Devi Susanti. 2013. skripsi “A Study on Students’ Mastery of Vocabulary in Descriptive Text” (research is conducted at the eight grade of SMPN 2 Telaga).
The aim of this research is to describe the students’ mastery vocabulary in descriptive text. The subject of this research is the students at the eight grade of SMP Negeri 2 Telaga in 2012-2013 academic years which consist of 20 students. The object of the research are the vocabulary (the synonym and antonym word of adjectives). The media used in the research was the descriptive text. The result of the research shows that the students’ mastery of vocabulary in descriptive text in average can be categorized into Good category. Based on the research findings, there are 7 students can be categorized into very good category, 10 students for good category, and 3 students for average category.
Based on the result of the research, the suggestions that could be references to the students and also for the teachers, such as to built the students’ habitually in comprehending text and grown their interest by providing the interesting text which is containing many vocabulary, not only for adjective but also for the other word classes. Also, to enrich the students’ mastery of vocabulary not only with the familiar words but also with unfamiliar words that will help them in comprehending a text.
