This research A surveys on students’ motivation in reading English text of the 5th semester of English Department Gorontalo State University. The objective of this research is to describe how the motivation of students in reading English text.
The findings show that the result of students’ intrinsic motivation is 74% and students’ extrinsic motivation is 70%, it can be categorized into high category. The survey covers the intrinsic aspect of motivation such as enjoyable, chalenging, interest, and it also covers the extrinsic aspect of motivation such as for getting high score, for getting praises, and for finishing assignment.
After I did this research, the suggestions that could be references to the students and for the lecturers, such as to built the students’ habitually in reading English text and grown their interest, and to provide medium to built students’ interest and motivation in reading English text.
