Rodiah Mustika Jayanti Thalib. 2013. Skripsi. “The Effect of CIRC Method on Students’ Ability in Identifying the Generic Structure of Narrrative Text”. (The research conducted at VIII1 Grade Students in SMP Negeri 1 Asparaga)
In conducting in this research, the researcher want to find out whether the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition Method can effect on students’ ability in identifying the generic structure of narrative text or not. The population of this research is taken from the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 1 Asparaga and the sample of this research is class VIII1. The sample consists of 20 students. The method of this research is quantitative method and I applied quasi experimental research. The researcher use one group pre-test and post-test design. The data are collectionused a test (multiple choices) which consist of 20 items that refer to four indicators reading: vcabulary, main idea, generic structure of narrative text, and explicit reading. The data are analyzed by uses t-test. The result of research shows that the CIRC effect on students ability significantly in identifying the generic structure of narrative text. It is proved by the result of statistical analysis that tcount (5.13) is biggest that tlist (2.024) at the level of significance ? = 0.05. The degree freedom (df) = 20+20-2= 38 is 2.024. It means that, the hypothesis is tenable. Therefore, it is recommend that CIRC method should be used by teacher in reading skill. For the next researcher, CIRC method can apply in teaching writing.
