Abstrak
ABSTRACT
Yerita Krisdiana Mamonto. 2012 . NIM: 321 408 125 “The Use of Picture to Improve English Learning at Elementary School” (a research conducted at five grade students of SD Negeri 2 Kobo Besar, Kec. Kotamobagu Timur).
This research focused on students’ ability in English vocabulary by using picture. The main problem of this research was “How is using picture to Improve English learning at Elementary school?”. The objective of this research is to find out whether the using picture can improve students’ ability in English vocabulary or not. The sample of this research is the five grade students of SDN 2 Kobo Besar in 2011/2012 academic years consists of 15 students. It was taken by using purposive sampling technique. The method used in this research is quantitative method, and the design of this research was used pre-experimental design. In collecting the data I used test form (pre-test and post-test). The test form is multiple choice tests consist of 30 items. I gave 1 score for the correct answer and 0 score for the false. Based on the result and data analysis, I found that the score of post-test was higher than pre-test. The hypothesis was accepted Ho, if t_(count ) was bigger than t_list (t_count ?? t?_list) based on the analysis of the research, I found that t_count was bigger than t_list (10,707 ? 2,977) with the level of significance ? = 0,05 and df = (n - 1) or (15 – 1) = 14. It means that the hypothesis is acceptable. In other words the using of picture in English learning can improve students’ ability in English vocabulary.
