This research is aimed to describe how semiotics are reflected in The Mummy Returns movie. This study investigates semiotics based on Pierce's theory. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative research. The data is collected from The Mummy Returns movie. The data is collected through library research. The steps of collecting the data are watching movie and taking notes of icon, index and symbol that appear in the selected movie. Then comes to the analyzing step which identify all of the data from selected movie, next is classifying the data, the final step is interpreting the data based on Pierce's theory of semiotics.
Based on the result, the researcher finds ten signs that categories into icon, index and symbol. The icons are Scorpion King, bracelet of Anubis, spear of Osiris, tattoo that had by Rick, Imhotep, Anubis, scarab, pyramid and tattoo of Ardeth. The first is Scorpion King, he refers to the king during the Protodynastic Period of Egypt, Scorpion king is a symbol of darkness. The second is Bracelet of Anubis that refers to the key to summoning up the Army of Anubis, it is a symbol of power. The third is spear of Osiris as a tool to defeat the Scorpion King that symbolized weapon that can kill Scorpion King. The fourth is tattoo that is owned by Rick that symbolized as Medjai. The fifth is Imhotep as a high priest, that means "he comes in peace" in Egyptian. The sixth is mummy that means preserved body of rich people. The seventh is Anubis as the sign of patron god of death that symbolized as rebirth. Then eighth Scarab as the sign of Khepri which means rebirth or regeneration. The Ninth is pyramid as tombs for pharaohs that symbolized way of pharaoh to the afterlife through the sun, and the tenth is tattoo of Ardeth that symbolized the guard of Imhotep.
