Ni luh Ketut Hartiningsih (2013): “Contrastive analysis of derivational suffixes between English and Balinese language”.
This study aims to find out how the differences and similarities of English and Balinese derivational suffixes. The objective of this research is to find out the differences and similarities of derivational suffixes between English and Balinese language. The method of this research is descriptive qualitative method by using contrastive analysis. This analysis is to describe the differences and similarities of English and Balinese derivational suffixes are collected through using instrument, reading some books and from native speakers as well. The result of this research found that there are similarities and differences of English and Balinese derivational suffixes. The similarities of both languages are having suffixes that can be attached to the base form noun, verb, adjective and not found suffixes that can be attached to the base form adverb in both languages. Furthermore, the differences can be seen from word class verb, and adjective. These cases change the word class from verb to adjective, adjective to noun, and adjective to adverb.
