Jein Setiawati : “The Increasing of Students’ Ability in Writing Descriptive Text by Using Mind Mapping Technique (A research conducted at the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Boliyohuto of Gorontalo Regency, in the 2012/2013 Academic Years), English department, Faculty of Letters and Culture, Gorontalo State University. First advisor Dr. Kartin Lihawa, M.Pd and second advisor Yusna Bantulu, S.Pd, M.A
The focus of this research is to see whether there is any increasing of students’ ability in wrting descriptive text by using mind mapping technique or not. Methdology of research which was used is quantitative method through an experiment. The population of this research was overall the students at the seventh grade of SMP N 1 Boliyohuto. The researcher used purpossive sampling in taking the sample of the object research. The sample of this research was class VII c at the second semester that given treatments by using mind mapping technique. The researcher used t-test to analyze the data after the treatment. The result of this research showed that the students’ ability in writing descriptive text by using mind mapping technique was increased. It could be proved by the hypthesis verification which t count > t table or 8.90> 2.052.
