Abstrak
ABSTRACT Mohamad Safaat. (2013). The Figurative language in William Shakespeare and Robert Frost’s Poems. English Department. Faculty of Letters and Culture. The Principal Supervisor is Prof. Dr. Hj. Moon Otoluwa, M.Hum, and The Co-Supervisor is Adriansyah Katili, S.S, M.Pd. This research aims to find out the difference and the similarity on Shakespeare and Frost’s poems by investigating the use of figurative language. This research applies qualitative method. The data that have been collected analyzed through several steps, they are, identifying, classifying, and analyzing the data by using componential analysis. Document is applied as the technique of data collection. The conclusion of this research is that there are some types of figurative language are found in Shakespeare and Frost’s Poem. Types of Figurative language in Shakespeare’s poems are simile, metaphor, hyperbole, and personification, while, types of figurative language in Frost’s poem are metaphor, hyperbole, and personification. Key words: Figurative language, Poem.
