M.Pd.In this research, the researcher concerns on the adaptation of English borrowing words that were borrowed from French language. The method that is used in this research is qualitative method, and the technique of collecting the data is documentation. The data have been taken from recorded data in Baugh and Cable’s book namely A History Of The English Languagethen found out the origin of the loanwords in dictionary namely A Concise Etymological Dictionary of the English Language and also eletronic dictionary and as the addition of making the reliable data, electronic dictionay is also used. This research includes an analysis of what word class deleted the ending –er, and what word class that adopted the ending –er; and also analyzed how the process of loan words adaptation.As the result, all the words that deleted the –er ending are classified as verb, and those that adopted the –er ending are words which classified as noun.Keywords : Borrowing, Loanwords, Middle English, Noun and Verb Classes
