Advisor 2: Yusna Bantulu, S.Pd, MA This qualitative research took the issues about teachers' pedagogic competence in the process of English teaching and learning. In Indonesia, English is generally taught as the foreign language. As the foreign language, English is one of the subjects in school with the purpose of basic communicating and master four language skills such as listening, reading, writing, and speaking and to implement teaching English as foreign language. Teacher is the key success to the English teaching and learning at school. That is the reason why teachers have responsibility in developing students' ability of English. One of the importance competences needed by English teacher is pedagogic competence. Pedagogic is a system of knowledge about the necessary of children's education. This probably related to what Richards (2011) and Janawi (2012) talk about the importance of teachers' pedagogic competence. The researcher used observation, interview, documentation and questioners with the participants are two English teachers in SMK Gotong Royong Telaga. In analyzing the data, the researcher used analysis of taxonomy. The findings of this research are based on the interview and observation, those shows that from the four indicators of pedagogic competence to English teachers, the teachers seems to only apply one indicator where is the ability of the teachers to analyze potential lesson content (a piece of realia, as in the preceding example, a text, an advertisement, a poem, a photo, etc) and identify ways in which it could be used as a teaching resource, as has been explained in. In conclusion, English teachers above shows those teachers have lack of competency to apply the indicator of pedagogic competence.
