Saleh, Fadhilah Rahmatika. 2014. The Influence of Reciprocal Reading Strategy Toward Students' Reading Comprehension (This Research Conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Gorontalo).
The study aimed at knowing the influence of reciprocal reading strategy toward the students' reading comprehension and how was the influence of reciprocal reading strategy toward the students' reading comprehension. The sample of the research was taken purposively by taking XI IPA with twenty-six students. The method used in this research was a queasy experimental by the pre-test and post test design. Data of this reserach was collected through reading comprehension test with 42 items. The research's variable included the dependent variable (X variable) was reciprocal reading strategy and the independent variable (Y variable) was students' reading comprehension. The result of the research showed that the reciprocal reading strategy has a positive influence toward the students' reading comprehension. It was proved by the result of the pre-test is means of 23,65 and the post test was means of 26,35. This results indicated that there was a progress on the students' value for 20,15% from giving the pre-test to the post test. In addition, the reciprocal reading strategy had significant coefficient of correlation (r) = 0,45 and index of determination (r2) = 0,2. It was meant that 20% or more the students' reading comprehension was influenced by using the reciprocal reading strategy. Based on the findings, it was suggested to the English teachers in order to use this strategy in teaching reading comprehension, especially in increasing the students' outcome in general topic, main idea, implicit and explicit information, detailed implicit information, word meanings, and reference in narrative texts.
