Abstrak

Abstract Pramudikha, IndraAgung (2016). A Semiotic Analysis in Film "SpongeBob Squarepants"(A cartoon film created by Stephen Hillenburg). English Study Program, Faculty of Letters and Culture, Gorontalo State University. Advisors: (1) Dr. H. Suleman Bouti, S.Pd, M.Hum (2) Farid Muhammad, S.Pd., MA. The research aims to analyze the dialogue of the characters infilm entitled"SpongeBob Squarepants"in order to find out the sign in film based on Charles Sanders Pierce theory. To achieve these objectives, the data that have been collected and analyzed though some steps. First, this research selected conversations that contained Semiotic sign. Analyzed and categorized based on types of sign such as Icon, Index and Symbol. The analysis found that there are 13 conversations which indicated has types of sign. They are 3 data categorizes as icon, 4 data categorized as index and 6 data categorizes as symbols. Key words: Semiotic, Semiotic SpongeBob Squarepants, SpongeBob Squarepants
