Abstrak
ABSRTRACT Nelvi Susilowati. 2009. NIM: 321409115. Skripsi : “Giving Question and Getting Answer Method for Teaching Reading Comprehension of News Item Text” (A research Conducted at the first grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Bongomeme in the 2013/2014 academic years. The objective of this research is aimed at finding whether the giving question and getting answer method can improve significantly students’ ability in reading or not. The subject of this research is the eight grade of SMA Negeri 1 Bongomeme which consists of 29 students. The method of this research is pre experimental method by using Pre-Test and Post-Test. In collecting the data I use multiple choices which consist of 20 items that refers to 3 indicators in reading: main idea, vocabulary content (synonym-antonym) (find the topic), explicit and implicit meaning. In analyzing I use normality analysis and hypothesis verification. Based on the result of testing the normality of the data, I found that the data is normal distribution. The hypothesis is tested by using t-test formula. The criteria used to verify the hypothesis is rejected H0 if tcount is less than tlist (tcount> tlist). In this case, the research found that the tcount is bigger than tlist (50, 30> 2, 00) with the level significance ?= 0, 05 and df = (n1+n2-2)= 56. This result shows that the hypothesis of this research is received. It means that the giving question and getting answer method can improve students’ ability in reading.
