"A Study on Research Advising Process at English Department State University of Gorontalo"
(A research conducted at the English Department Students in 2010-2012 academic years)
This study aims to find out students' problem and obstacle during the advising process in English Department Program and to solve that problem. The participants of this research were seven participants. The data of this research were collected from interview. The overviews of overall steps in collecting the data are preparing the questioner that will be interview to the informant. The data have been analyzed by using descriptive qualitative. Moreover, there are seven major points that could be taking notes that commonly faced by the students in doing the thesis advising process and from the data obtained there are three main aspects that according to the participants as the common obstacle that they found most during the advising process. Those are insufficient knowledge in writing thesis, anxiety in interacting with the thesis advisors and limited access to the availability of the books. From those aspect in can be conclude that both lecture and teacher should develop the student knowledge in writing the thesis, both lecture and students need to create good chemistry in order to be comfortable each other. Then, to support the student in finishing their thesis, the university as well to start improving the availability of the books in each library.
