Abstrak
Suaib, Nur Fadilla. 2016. Hierarchical Human Motivation on Novel "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules" By Jeff Kinney.
This research has a purpose to explain the motivation of the characters on the novel "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" by Jeff Kinney. The method of this research is qualitative method and psychology analytical, specifically using Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of need theory as the approach. In collecting the data in this research by using data card analysis where data are classified based on five types of columns that each column are physiological need, safe and security need, love and belonging or social need, esteem need, and self-actualization. The result found that based on the data, there are five reason or motivatioan why the characters in the novel do something, they are; eat,sleap, drink (physiological needs), worrying about safety (safety needs), having special relationship and social group (Love and social needs), need for appreciate (esteem needs), and what a man can be, he must be (self-actualization). So, the conclusion is mostly human do something based on five needs, to fulfil his/her physiological, need to be safe, need to have relationship, need to get appreciation, and prove his/her self about what he/she want to be.
