The aim of this research is to know how the correlational contribution of vocabulary mastery towards students' reading comprehension in the narrative text. The researcher used quantitative method in this research, thus, being supported by regression analysis in answering the research questions of this research. The sample of the data was eight grade students of SMPN 02 Paguyaman pantai in academic year 2014/2015. The research took twenty five students as the sample. Test as the instrument of collecting the data of this research. The result of regression testing is obtained Y = 28,09 + 0,07X. Based on the hypothesis testing of this research is obtained tcount=3.01, ttable= 2.81 and ttable=2.07. Furthermore, the result of this research the correlation both of variables is r= 0,53, and contribution could give by of those variables is obtained r2= 28,09%. So that there significant correlation between both of variables and vocabulary mastery gave contribution towards reading comprehension in narrative text. Based on the result of this research is suggested that the teacher need to ask the students to master vocabulary well and also learn well about the purpose of reading narrative text.
