Karim Yasani (2014) Nim 321 410 086 "Politeness Strategy Analysis in the Great Gatsby 2013 Movie"
The skripsi is about Politeness Strategy Analysis in the Great Gatsby 2013 Movie. The objective of this research is particulary aimed to investigate kinds of politeness strategy that can be found in the great gatsby movie 2013. It is expected that this research contibutes some significant progreses, they are : 1.) theoretically, the research is significant to provide some information about politeness strategy for those who are interested in the study of politeness strategy. 2) practically,importance to the readers, teacher and students to make them understan about the importance of politeness language for use in daily life of interaction.
The subject of this research In The Great Gatsby 2013 Movie. The technique used for collecting the data are watching the movie, dividing from the main character that contains on kinds of politeness strategy and recording the conversation on notes including the utterance by main character in movie.
The result of the study shows that four strategies are applied by the main characters in their dialogues. First, Bald on record strategy which is used in the situation in which S wants to achieve the maximum efficiency of his utterance. Second, Positive Politeness Strategy which is used in the condition in which S tries to minimize the distance between expressing friendliness and solid interest. Third, Negative Politeness Strategy which is used in the situation in which S has the main focus on assuming that he may be imposing and intruding on H's space. Fourth, off Record Strategy this is used in the condition to take some pressures off the hearer.
