Students' Perception on Using the Indonesian Language in English Language Teaching (ELT) Classroom (a case study conducted at fifth semester students of English Department in Academic Year of 2013/ 2014). Skripsi. Department of English Education, Faculty of Letters and Culture, State University of Gorontalo. Principal supervisor is Nonny Basalama, M.A.,Ph.D. and Co-supervisor is Magvirah El Walidayni Kau S.Pd, M.Pd.
This study aimed to describe the students' perception on using the Indonesian language in English Language Teaching (ELT) classroom. Problem statements of the research are; a) what are students' perception on the using of Indonesian Language in ELT classroom and b) what factors which make the students use Indonesian Language in ELT classroom. This research used descriptive quantitative method where the population is 86 students of English Department, in academic year of 2013/2014. Meanwhile, research samples were also 86 students determined by Total Sampling. Data of the research are collected by using questionnaire is distributed to all samples. Research findings show that students' perception on the using of Indonesian in ELT classroom were varied, yet they are agree towards the using Indonesian due to eases them to undesrtand what the teacher said. Then, mostly reason teacher used Indonesian Language are when explaining something difficult, like grammar or vocabulary, dicipline students, talking with students about things that are not related. It is due to Indonesian Language facilitated to get a better communication.
