This study aimed to find out the effect of giving reward as a strategy in motivating student in learning English to the classroom. The method of the study is quantitative method by experiment approach. The population of this research is all seventh grades at SMP N 1 Bonepantai. In determining the sample used cluster random sampling. The sample which is used in this research is class VII1 as the experiment class and class VII3 as control class. This study uses questioner as the instrument to collect the data. Questioner is given before and after treatment. This research is analyzed by using t-test sample related. Based on the research findings, it was found that there is the effect of giving reward in developing students' motivation. It can be found that there is the difference on students' motivation between experiment class and control class in learning English. It is proven by the differences between score of students' motivation before and after treatment (X1 = 22.33 : X2 = 12.46). The result of t-test at = 0.05 was found that tcount > ttable with the calculation 6.633 > 2.00. Therefore, it was clear that "giving of Reward" could develop students' motivation in learning English and the hypothesis of this research was accepted.
