This Skripsi aims to analyze the characterization of characters in a movie. It applies a strategy of literary criticism that is called deconstruction. It especially applies a theory of deconstruction by Jacques Derrida. This strategy aims to lead us to know how to find out the other sides of the character. It is because deconstruction seeks to reverse things that contain in the movie and others. In this case, the example is the characterization of a character would be good after evil or reversely. Hence, this Skripsi focuses its analysis on a female character in Monte Carlo Movie namely Cordelia Winthrop Scott. The data are taken from the conversations that represent to the characterization of Cordelia. In the analysis of real characterization of Cordelia, it is discovered that she is initially described as an antagonist character who is unsociable person because of her life styles that covered by the glamorous and expensive things. She is a rich person who does things mistakenly that includes as a naughty person because of her disobedience to her mother's recommendation, arrogant person because of her way to look at another person inconsequentially, and selfish person because of her carelessness of other people necessities. However, through deconstructive analysis it was discovered Cordelia evidently has different characteristic. Cordelia is a protagonist character who is sociable because of her solidarity, care, good passion, and a person who does things nobly that includes as a good person because of her well manner, smart and talented person because of her achievements, an honest person because she holds honesty tightly, and lovable and respected person because of her love and respect to other creatures.
