The objective of study is to find out the level of students'ability in translation, as well as to find out common errors made by students. The study is limited only on analyzing students' accuracy and acceptability in translation based on Nababan'stheory (2012) to describe their level of ability. The data were collected by giving a short story to13participants and the data were analyzed by using descriptive qualitative method. Theparticipants of this study were13 students who sitting insixth semester of English Department of UniversitasNegeriGorontalo (UNG) in the academic year of 2012/2013 who hadpassed theTranslation subject, English Syntax, English Grammar, and Semantic & Pragmatic subjects. The result of the study showed that there are 11 (84%) students got excellent level and2 (15%) students achieved good level. In general, the result is excellent. Furthermore, in students' translation works, it was found the errors that made their translation inaccurate and unacceptable. The use of inappropriate word, choice of word, omission and addition of information were some errors displayed in students' translation work. Word-for-word and unnaturaltranslation applied by students also made their translation sound unnatural and difficult to understand.
