The main purpose of this research is to find out what the studentsâ strategies in translating poetry. In conducting this research, descriptive method was used to analyze and describe studentsâ strategies in translating poetry. The site and participants in this research are English Department students of Universitas Negeri Gorontalo involving ten participants that their currently in the sixth semester. In collecting the data, the researcher collected from studentsâ translation of Red red rose poem by Robert Burns from English into Indonesia. The analysis was based on Seven strategies in translating poem method by Andrea Levefere to identify the tendency of strategies used by students in translating the poem. Further, the researcher found that the participants frequently applied literal translation as much as 53,12 %, and following by blank verse translation as much as 32,5 %.
