Abstrak

The Use of Reading Journal as a Strategy to Develop Students Reading Ability Radhia Thalib, Advisor 1: Dr. Jolanda, H.D Pilongo, M.Pd Advisor 2: Rahmawati Mamu, S.Pd, M,Pd Letter and Culture Faculty, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo Poppythalib52@gmail.com This research aims to develop students reading ability through reading journal. The site of this research is SMA Negeri 4 Gorontalo consist 30 students. The participant consist of 10 students at class IPA 1 choosen based on purposive sampling. This research use qualitative descriptive method, it purposes to describe students reading ability. To collect the data I used two , there are test and document (Reading Journal). Therefore, in analyzing the data I used score maximal idea (SMI) and scale 5 to determine the remark. The result of this result shows that there are 5 student get excellent categorized and 5 student get good categorized. In this case, the use of reading journal as a strategy can develop students reading ability. Keywords: Reading Journal, Strategy, Student's reading ability
