This research aims to analyze the dilemma of war in Thomas Hardy's Selecteed poems. There are five poems of Thomas Hardy that are analyzed. The poems are The Man He Killed, The Two Soldiers, at The War Office London, in time of Breaking Nation, and Man Who March Away. The poems were analyzed by using structural approach which focused on the imagery. The result of the researcher found that five poems were considered has war theme because the diction found in each of the poem describes about war and the situation of the war. One of the examples is the word infantry that is found in "The Man He Killed". The word infantry is considered as a group of soldier while the soldier is always related with war. The researcher also found that the most imagery appear in five of the poems is visual imagery. The other imageries are Kines thetic Imagery, Tactile Imagery and Auditory Imagery.
