ABSTRACT
Sri Ayu R, Tangio, (2017): Improving Students' Vocabulary through Twister Game (A research at Junior High School in SMP NEGERI 9 Gorontalo 2015/2016 Academic Year)). First advisor Dra. Jolanda H.D. Pilongo, M.pd and second advisor Sri Agriyanti Mestari, S.pd., M.ed. TESOL.
To focus of aim this research is improving students' ability to memorizing vocabulary by using twister game which is limited in noun and adjective. The purpose of this research is to find out whether a Twister game technique has an effectiveness to enhance students' vocabulary or not. Use the game, in this context "(Twister Game could be a good alternative or variation in teaching vocabulary, where it would make the students enjoyed following the level. The method of research is pre experimental Research and it has 3 design of research that is pre-test, treatment and post-test. The population is students of VIIth junior high school in SMPN 9 Gorontalo and the sample is 25 students class of VII4. The data used multiple choice and used t-test to analyze the data, and the result showed that mean score of students in pre-test is 15,24 and students' standard derivation is 2,17. Meanwhile the mean score of students in post-test is 19,16 and students' standard derivation is 2,41. The normality of the data is 0,089 and it's higher than t-list 0,173. By applying the twister game, the students' vocabulary is improved defended before apply this technique. The hypothesis verification showed that t-count > t-table, where the value was (8,000>2.060) and it means the using Twister Game is received. Finally, I hope this technique can apply in school by the teacher in teaching English to improve students' vocabulary.
