Abstrak

This skripsi aims to analyze students' strategies in written interpretation of poems. This study conducted at Gorontalo State University particularly in English Department of Letters and Cultures Faculty. In selecting the participants, the researcher used purposive sampling technique. Moreover, the participants were only six students who got A grade in both of translation and poetry class. The researcher analyzes the data using qualitative method. Regarding to the result, the researcher found that three participants used reformulation strategy mostly in both the poems. Moreover, there are also three participants used metaphors and sayings strategy. Thus, it can be concluded that there are two main strategies that the most frequently used by the participants namely reformulation strategy, and metaphors and sayings strategy.
