English Education Study Program, Letters and Culture Faculty, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. Advisor (1) Prof. Dr. Hj. Moon Otoluwa, M.Hum, (2) Dra. Elsje Louise Sambouw, M.Hum. The research intended to describe the students strategies in reading the academic reading texts. The researcher used qualitative research method by using transcript interview as the techniques of data collected. Ten students of English Department in eighth semester who are writing the research proposal were selected as the participants of this research. The result of this research revealed the three reading strategies commonly used by students are P2R and SQ3R strategies. Every reading strategies have different stages. However, they have the same goal, which is to facilitate the students to understand and obtain the information they need in academic reading texts as effective as possible.
